Ann Curry
Ann Curry is a photojournalist, journalist and author who has covered areas of war for over 45 years. Her research focuses on human suffering as well as disasters. Curry has reported from the wars in Kosovo Iraq Syria Lebanon Palestine Afghanistan Darfur Congo and the Central African Republic. Curry's maternal grandmother is Japanese and her father was an US Navy Sargent. Her parents met while their father was in Japan after World War II. Because of her father's work as a military officer, they moved a lot. Curry was a student at the High School in Ashland Oregon. She graduated in 1978 at her school at the University of Oregon with a bachelor's degree in journalism. Curry attended various schools like San Diego Alameda Oregon Virginia as well as Virginia. Ashland in Oregon is the location where Curry received her degree. While working as an intern for KTVL Channel 10 Medford, Oregon she began her career in the field of broadcasting. She became the first female journalist for the station at was just 22. Then she was promoted to the role of anchor as well as reporter at KGW an NBC station in Portland, Oregan. After that, she moved into Los Angeles four years later to work as a reporter for KCBS TV. She was awarded the award of two Emmy Awards during the six years she spent with this station.
